Beginning in 2025, all members can participate in FreeState's time-of-use rate program.
This program gives members the opportunity to save on their monthly electric bill, just by adjusting energy consumption habits for 3 hours each weekday.
FreeState is charged a premium from our two power suppliers for energy consumed during peak hours. Currently, the peak hours are identified as 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The time-of-use rate encourages members to reduce consumption as much as possible during those peak hours.
That means families are incentivized for using less energy during that specific three-hour block.
In 2025, 30¢ per kWh (3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday)
11¢ per kWh (all other hours, including major holidays)
In 2026, 35¢ per kWh (3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday)
10.75¢ per kWh (all other hours, including major holidays)
In 2027, 40¢ per kWh (3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday)
10.25¢ per kWh (all other hours, including major holidays)
In 2028, 45¢ per kWh (3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday)
10.25¢ per kWh (all other hours, including major holidays)
How can you adjust your habits? Wait until after 6 p.m. to run the dishwasher, dryer, or adjust the thermostat. Wait until the weekend to do laundry or other household chores with high energy consumption.
