security lightsSecurity Lights

Security lights are an effective crime deterrent, especially in rural areas. Lights operate on a photoelectric control, providing dusk to dawn operation.

An efficient LED lamp will provide you with adequate lighting and additional security for your home. You’ll sleep better knowing that your property is well lit and more secure.

  • West District Rate: $14.50 per month
  • East District Rate: $10.00 per month

Maintenance Free
Repair and replacement of the fixture and pole will be the responsibility of the Cooperative. However, the member shall assume responsibility of notifying the Cooperative when the light fixture is not working correctly.

Standard Installation
A 48 watt LED is mounted on either the meter or transformer pole.

Optional Installation
Additional charges will apply to install a transformer with a maximum distance of 125’ overhead or underground wire and any additional pole(s) required.

Billing
Lease lights are connected before the member’s meter. Therefore, energy usage is part of the monthly charge. Power cost adjustment (PCA) applies. Our member service staff can inform you how your security light will be billed. If a request for disconnection of a security light is less than twelve (12) months since the same member requested the security light to be connected, such member shall be billed for the remaining disconnected months.

Security Light

The security light application process will be guided by a FreeState member account coordinator. Please keep in mind that process time for applications can take 2 to 3 business days.

The MAC team will assist you any way they can, but during the busiest seasons, it could take longer to process your information.

To help expedite the process, please feel free to download and fill out the security light application. You can bring it into the office with you, or email it. Once it is received a MAC will be in touch with you.

Download the application here.

Note: Instructions on how to download, complete, and submit an electronic form are found here.

Surge Suppressors

Surge suppressors and security lights are available to lease from FreeState for a monthly fee added right to your bill. Protect your major appliances from lightning and surges.

What causes a power surge?
Although often caused by lightning strikes, it is not the only cause of power surges. Birds, squirrels, and trees often interfere with power lines and accidents involving utility poles can also cause power surges.

Protect Your Major Appliances
This device will provide protection from lightning strikes and other major power surges to your washer, dryer, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, garbage disposer and HVAC unit located inside your home.*

No Deductible Insurance Coverage
In the event that a covered appliance is damaged, you’re covered up to $5,000 per item or $50,000 per residence for repair or replacement (whichever is less).*

A power surge can happen at any time. However, during the long Kansas storm season, chances are even higher than your home could receive a damaging lightning strike.

At just $5.00 per month (no installation fee), this device will protect against surges that come through the meter location. Call us today to order your surge suppressor or for more information about the device and how it can protect your household investments.

*See product warranty for complete coverage details. Surge devices may not be available for some pedestal meter housings.
