McLouth (East District) members can participate in FreeState's time-of-use rate program

This program gives members the opportunity to save on their monthly electric bill, just by adjusting energy consumption habits.

FreeState is charged a premium from our two power suppliers for energy consumed during peak hours of 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The time-of-use rate encourages members to adjust consumption as much as possible outside those peak hours.

That means families are incentivized for using less energy during that specific three-hour block.

17.89¢ per kWh (3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday).

8.45¢ per kWh (all other hours, including major holidays).

How can you adjust your habits? Wait until after 6 p.m. to run the dishwasher, dryer, or adjust the thermostat. Wait until the weekend to do laundry or other high energy household chores.

Wait and save!

Topeka (West District) members will have to wait as the rate is not yet available. Different rate structures due to power supplier contracts keep FreeState from offering the time-of-use rate to our west members. However, the meter or program shouldn't matter. You can save even if you aren't participating in our program.
