Zoo 22

Over 1,300 FreeState members gathered at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center on Saturday, August 28 for the second annual Crew at The Zoo member appreciation event. Crew at the Zoo drew members from all across FreeState’s service territory lines.

The event was planned to celebrate FreeState members and show appreciation by providing members with a fun-filled day at the Topeka Zoo, free of charge.

Area community organizations and FreeState staff were ready to provide helpful information about the seven cooperative principles as members made their way about the zoo. Additionally, Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Northeast Kansas collected pop tabs from FreeState’s ‘Sippin All Summer’ challenge.

“We were so excited to bring back this award-winning event,” said Sarah Farlee, PR and Marketing Director. “And we brought in new elements.”

“This year we saw over 1200 members and really enjoyed meeting our members at the Topeka Zoo.” Farlee added. “It was important to us to provide an event that was fun for all ages and would be an opportunity for families to spent time together.”
