FreeState members will see May electric bills next week that will reflect the usage in the month of April.

Energy usage in April is what the cooperative considers typical for the season.

The cooperative has received power bills from power suppliers. These bills were incorporated into the May bill.

The cooperative has taken measures to lessen the impact as much as possible to our members by extending those costs over a period of time. This will keep members from seeing huge increases in bills all at one time.

Instead, members may notice slight increases in the power cost adjustment (PCA) through the rest of the year, and perhaps beyond. By adjusting the PCA the cooperative was able to shelter members from large, unexpected costs.

The cooperative's trustees also took action to help members now passing the Member Relief Adjustment. In an effort to alleviate power bills even a small bit, the board of trustees voted to pass a $500,000 member relief adjustment that will provide a bill credit of approximately $23 for an average residential customer.

The adjustment will be credited to bills in May 2021, although the funds are from 2020. Members with current active accounts who purchased electricity in 2020 will see the member relief adjustment to help alleviate bills before we hit the summer months.

We thank you all for your patience as we navigate this situation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office and speak to a member service representative. You may call 1-800-794-1989 or email.
